A technique for fabricating a fixed provisional prosthesis on osseointegrated fixtures. 1989

The Branemark technique (and others) of osseointegration involves a second surgical phase consisting of exposing the fixtures, removing the healing caps, and placement of the cylindrical abutments. This article describes a technique that, after altering the existing denture, allows for direct placement onto the fixture abutments. The modification provides a trial period of adjustment while the final prosthesis is being made and increases the patient's comfort, confidence, and expectations.
