[Ultrasonic scanning in the diagnosis of hepatic alveococcosis]. 1989

G A Zubovskiĭ, and V N Karpenko

The echotomographic picture of liver alveococcosis was described on the basis of investigation of 132 patients (the diagnosis in 22 was verified by biopsy). Some features of alterations were determined over time. Radionuclide scanning was shown to be less effective in the diagnosis of liver alveococcosis than echotomography.

D004444 Echinococcosis, Hepatic Liver disease caused by infections with parasitic tapeworms of the genus ECHINOCOCCUS, such as Echinococcus granulosus or Echinococcus multilocularis. Ingested Echinococcus ova burrow into the intestinal mucosa. The larval migration to the liver via the PORTAL VEIN leads to watery vesicles (HYDATID CYST).
