We have found that a lipase from Pseudomonas fluorescens (PFL) accelerated regioselective acylation of 2'-deoxynucleosides with the use of acid anhydrides as acyl donor in dry polar solvents. Different regioselective deacylation of 3',5'-di-O-acyl-2'-deoxynucleosides was found to take place when a lipase (PFL) or a protease from Bacillus subtilis (Subtilisin) was used.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008049 Lipase An enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the reaction of triacylglycerol and water to yield diacylglycerol and a fatty acid anion. It is produced by glands on the tongue and by the pancreas and initiates the digestion of dietary fats. (From Dorland, 27th ed) EC 3.1.1.3. D000215 Acylation The addition of an organic acid radical into a molecule.
D001711 Biotransformation The chemical alteration of an exogenous substance by or in a biological system. The alteration may inactivate the compound or it may result in the production of an active metabolite of an inactive parent compound. The alterations may be divided into METABOLIC DETOXICATION, PHASE I and METABOLIC DETOXICATION, PHASE II.
D013381 Subtilisins A family of SERINE ENDOPEPTIDASES isolated from Bacillus subtilis.
