The description of temporal trends of average, annual age-adjusted or crude multiple sclerosis mortality rates in Europe (1921-1984) was presented. The significance of long-run epidemiological surveys was discussed in the paper.

Pathologic findings include multiple sharply demarcated areas of demyelination throughout the white matter of the central nervous system. Clinical manifestations include visual loss, extra-ocular movement disorders, paresthesias, loss of sensation, weakness, dysarthria, spasticity, ataxia, and bladder dysfunction.
