[The technic of intranasal hyposensitization and provocation with rhinomanometric control]. 1989

Intranasal provocation using many related allergens over a short time with subsequent local, intranasal hyposensitization should always be used by rhinologists trained in allergy if systemic hyposensitization cannot be considered, e.g. when skin tests are negative. This is frequently the case with mold spores.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008365 Manometry Measurement of the pressure or tension of liquids or gases with a manometer. Tonometry,Manometries
D009299 Nasal Provocation Tests Application of allergens to the nasal mucosa. Interpretation includes observation of nasal symptoms, rhinoscopy, and rhinomanometry. Nasal provocation tests are used in the diagnosis of nasal hypersensitivity, including RHINITIS, ALLERGIC, SEASONAL. D003888 Desensitization, Immunologic Immunosuppression by the administration of increasing doses of antigen. Though the exact mechanism is not clear, the therapy results in an increase in serum levels of allergen-specific IMMUNOGLOBULIN G, suppression of specific IgE, and an increase in suppressor T-cell activity. D005500 Follow-Up Studies Studies in which individuals or populations are followed to assess the outcome of exposures, procedures, or effects of a characteristic, e.g., occurrence of disease. D006801 Humans Members of the species Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens,Man (Taxonomy),Human,Man, Modern,Modern Man
D000403 Airway Resistance Physiologically, the opposition to flow of air caused by the forces of friction. As a part of pulmonary function testing, it is the ratio of driving pressure to the rate of air flow. Airway Resistances,Resistance, Airway,Resistances, Airway
D000528 Alternaria A mitosporic Loculoascomycetes fungal genus including several plant pathogens and at least one species which produces a highly phytotoxic antibiotic. Its teleomorph is Lewia. Alternarias
D012221 Rhinitis, Allergic, Perennial Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose similar to that found in hay fever except that symptoms persist throughout the year. The causes are usually air-borne allergens, particularly dusts, feathers, molds, animal fur, etc. Rhinitis, Allergic, Nonseasonal
