[Examination of the aorta and major arteries in arterial hypertension using MR tomography]. 1989

I D Fedina

184 patients with arterial hypertension (AH) were studied. 63 of them had essential hypertension, 49 had renovascular hypertension, 27 had Leriche's syndrome, 38 had aortal aneurysms and 7 had coarctation of aorta. MR-tomography (MRT) gave satisfactory enough findings in diagnosis of vascular pathology in patients with essential hypertension as well as in those with symptomatic hypertensions of vascular origin. Criteria for assessment of vessels state and symptoms of various types of vascular pathology, such as stenosis and aorta aneurysm, were developed. In essential hypertension MRT may show early aortic alterations and dependence of their degree on duration and severity of the disease. The method makes it possible to assess the state of inner organs simultaneously with the investigation of the vessels which is of great importance for the patients to whom surgical treatment is recommended.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D006973 Hypertension Persistently high systemic arterial BLOOD PRESSURE. Based on multiple readings (BLOOD PRESSURE DETERMINATION), hypertension is currently defined as when SYSTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently greater than 140 mm Hg or when DIASTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently 90 mm Hg or more. Blood Pressure, High,Blood Pressures, High,High Blood Pressure,High Blood Pressures
D007083 Iliac Artery Either of two large arteries originating from the abdominal aorta; they supply blood to the pelvis, abdominal wall and legs. Deep Circumflex Iliac Artery,Arteries, Iliac,Artery, Iliac,Iliac Arteries
D008279 Magnetic Resonance Imaging Non-invasive method of demonstrating internal anatomy based on the principle that atomic nuclei in a strong magnetic field absorb pulses of radiofrequency energy and emit them as radiowaves which can be reconstructed into computerized images. The concept includes proton spin tomographic techniques.
