Indirect pulp-capping of carious teeth with periapical lesions. 1978

R E Jordan, and M Suzuki, and D H Skinner

Twenty-four vital teeth with deep carious lesions associated with radiographically demonstrable periapical lesions were treated conservatively by means of the indirect pulp-capping technique. Eleven teeth showed apparent resolution of periapical pathology, an absence of pain, and continued vitality when followed up as long as seven years postoperatively.

D003731 Dental Caries Localized destruction of the tooth surface initiated by decalcification of the enamel followed by enzymatic lysis of organic structures and leading to cavity formation. If left unchecked, the cavity may penetrate the enamel and dentin and reach the pulp.
