[Is psychotherapy what we call "psychotherapy"?]. 1989

P Watzlawick

"It is the theory that determines what we can observe", Einstein claimed as early as 50 years ago. His statement is valid also for psychotherapy: The basic assumptions of any school of psychotherapy regarding the nature of man and of change determine what seems to be possible or impossible (and therefore "wrong"). The paper examines the practical consequences of these assumptions from the point of view of modern constructivism.
