[Changes in the structure of the gastric mucosa in chronic disorders of visceral blood circulation]. 1989

Experiments were conducted on 63 healthy mongrel dogs to study the character of structural changes in the mucous membrane of the stomach in 50% obstruction of the celiac trunk (21), protracted gradual obstruction of the celiac trunk (22), and protracted gradual occlusion of the celiac trunk and cranial mesenteric artery (20). The authors revealed a direct dependence of the structural shifts in the gastric mucosa on the duration and degree of disorders of visceral circulation, which confirms the need for surgical correction; the indications and terms for performing restorative operations are directly dependent on the degree of disorders of the main blood flow.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007422 Intestines The section of the alimentary canal from the STOMACH to the ANAL CANAL. It includes the LARGE INTESTINE and SMALL INTESTINE. Intestine
D007511 Ischemia A hypoperfusion of the BLOOD through an organ or tissue caused by a PATHOLOGIC CONSTRICTION or obstruction of its BLOOD VESSELS, or an absence of BLOOD CIRCULATION. Ischemias
D008638 Mesenteric Arteries Arteries which arise from the abdominal aorta and distribute to most of the intestines. Arteries, Mesenteric,Artery, Mesenteric,Mesenteric Artery
D008641 Mesenteric Vascular Occlusion Obstruction of the flow in the SPLANCHNIC CIRCULATION by ATHEROSCLEROSIS; EMBOLISM; THROMBOSIS; STENOSIS; TRAUMA; and compression or intrinsic pressure from adjacent tumors. Rare causes are drugs, intestinal parasites, and vascular immunoinflammatory diseases such as PERIARTERITIS NODOSA and THROMBOANGIITIS OBLITERANS. D001775 Blood Circulation The movement of the BLOOD as it is pumped through the CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM. Blood Flow,Circulation, Blood,Blood Flows,Flow, Blood
D002445 Celiac Artery The arterial trunk that arises from the abdominal aorta and after a short course divides into the left gastric, common hepatic and splenic arteries. Arteries, Celiac,Artery, Celiac,Celiac Arteries
D003097 Collateral Circulation Maintenance of blood flow to an organ despite obstruction of a principal vessel. Blood flow is maintained through small vessels. D004285 Dogs The domestic dog, Canis familiaris, comprising about 400 breeds, of the carnivore family CANIDAE. They are worldwide in distribution and live in association with people. (Walker's Mammals of the World, 5th ed, p1065) Canis familiaris,Dog
D005753 Gastric Mucosa Lining of the STOMACH, consisting of an inner EPITHELIUM, a middle LAMINA PROPRIA, and an outer MUSCULARIS MUCOSAE. The surface cells produce MUCUS that protects the stomach from attack by digestive acid and enzymes. When the epithelium invaginates into the LAMINA PROPRIA at various region of the stomach (CARDIA; GASTRIC FUNDUS; and PYLORUS), different tubular gastric glands are formed. These glands consist of cells that secrete mucus, enzymes, HYDROCHLORIC ACID, or hormones. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
