[Basic social competence of retarded children: problems of education and evaluation]. 1989

K Sarimski, and J Deschler

Eight mentally retarded children in the preschool age were engaged in behavioral training group focused on cooperative responding during play. Behavioral measures used early in training and after four weeks revealed only marginal increase of social initiation skills, while there was no significant change in the rate of responding behaviors. Issues of evaluation studies in clinical settings and suggestions for more effective procedures are discussed.
