Bronchiolitis is a common cause of outpatient visits and hospitalization in children younger than age 2 years. Despite the frequency with which pediatricians manage this diagnosis, there is significant variability in care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. This may be due in part to changing guidelines set forth by leading pediatric organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, as increasing evidence emerges that traditional therapies are not effective.
