Ambulatory surgery is an important part of the surgical care of children. Experience with 6972 pediatric surgical procedures performed in the Surgicenter is reviewed. Surgical techniques for the most common procedures--inguinal herniorrhaphy, orchiopexy, and umbilical herniorrhaphy--are described.
