Role of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty in aorto-iliac reconstruction. 1986

J D Blankensteijn, and T J van Vroonhoven, and L Lampmann

Thirty-seven percutaneous transluminal angioplasties were performed in 31 patients with disabling claudication caused by a short stenosis in the iliac segment. This retrospective study showed an overall patency rate by life-table analysis of 93% with a follow-up period of 4 years and 4 months. There were 2 primary failures and 4 minor complications. Two limbs relapsed but were successfully treated with second PTA. These results indicate that PTA is the procedure of choice in treatment of short iliac artery lesions.
