The qualification of the c.w.-ultrasound-doppler method for quantitative blood flow measurement was investigated in an animal experimental study in dogs. The simultaneous measurements by means of the electromagnetic flow measurement showed a correlation coefficient from 0.865 to 0.942 in dependence on the exposure angle to ultrasonic waves. The c.w.-ultrasound-doppler method appears suitable for quantitative blood flow measurements after these results. The exactness of the definition of the perpendicular as reference angle for deriving the exposure angle for ultrasonic waves has proved true.
