[Study of the structure of erythrocyte membrane in spontaneous genetic hypertension using the spin-label method]. 1985

P V Gulak, and S N Orlov, and Iu V Postnov, and I Sh Kiladze, and M I Tabagua

An analysis of ESR spectra of maleimid spin-labeled erythrocyte membranes of spontaneously hypertensive rats of SHR line and normotensive rats of the control line WKY showed differences in the structure of membrane proteins in the norm and pathology. These differences were compared with the differences between the erythrocyte membranes of SHR and WKY, found earlier by fluorescent probe method. An important role of membrane peripheric proteins in the appearance of the above differences in suggested.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D006973 Hypertension Persistently high systemic arterial BLOOD PRESSURE. Based on multiple readings (BLOOD PRESSURE DETERMINATION), hypertension is currently defined as when SYSTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently greater than 140 mm Hg or when DIASTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently 90 mm Hg or more. D008301 Maleimides Derivatives of maleimide (the structural formula H2C2(CO)2NH) containing a pyrroledione ring where the hydrogen atom of the NH group is replaced with aliphatic or aromatic groups.
D008565 Membrane Proteins Proteins which are found in membranes including cellular and intracellular membranes. They consist of two types, peripheral and integral proteins. They include most membrane-associated enzymes, antigenic proteins, transport proteins, and drug, hormone, and lectin receptors. D004578 Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy A technique applicable to the wide variety of substances which exhibit paramagnetism because of the magnetic moments of unpaired electrons. The spectra are useful for detection and identification, for determination of electron structure, for study of interactions between molecules, and for measurement of nuclear spins and moments. (From McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, 7th edition) Electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) spectroscopy is a variant of the technique which can give enhanced resolution. Electron spin resonance analysis can now be used in vivo, including imaging applications such as MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING. D004910 Erythrocyte Membrane The semi-permeable outer structure of a red blood cell. It is known as a red cell 'ghost' after HEMOLYSIS. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
