GLC determination of indoprofen in plasma. 1977

R V Smith, and D W Humphrey, and H Escalona-Castillo

Implementation of human bioavailability studies with the analgesic indoprofen required a rapid, sensitive, and convenient assay in blood plasma. A procedure based on ether extraction of acidified plasma, derivatization with diazomethane, and GLC analysis using a 3% OV-1 column was sufficiently sensitive for measurement of plasma indoprofen concentrations in the 0.4-16 mug/ml range. An average recovery of 99.0 +/- 7.6% (SD) was achieved when the pentanoic acid homolog was employed as an internal standard.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007211 Indoles Benzopyrroles with the nitrogen at the number one carbon adjacent to the benzyl portion, in contrast to ISOINDOLES which have the nitrogen away from the six-membered ring.
D010666 Phenylpropionates Derivatives of 3-phenylpropionic acid, including its salts and esters.
D002849 Chromatography, Gas Fractionation of a vaporized sample as a consequence of partition between a mobile gaseous phase and a stationary phase held in a column. Two types are gas-solid chromatography, where the fixed phase is a solid, and gas-liquid, in which the stationary phase is a nonvolatile liquid supported on an inert solid matrix. D003978 Diazomethane A diazonium compound with the formula CH2N2. Diazirine

D000894 Anti-Inflammatory Agents, Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory agents that are non-steroidal in nature. In addition to anti-inflammatory actions, they have analgesic, antipyretic, and platelet-inhibitory actions. They act by blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, which converts arachidonic acid to cyclic endoperoxides, precursors of prostaglandins. Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis accounts for their analgesic, antipyretic, and platelet-inhibitory actions; other mechanisms may contribute to their anti-inflammatory effects.
