Endoscopy in bleeding duodenal varices: a rare cause of massive upper G-I-hemorrhage. 1977

Endoscopic evidence of bleeding duodenal varices in a patient with portal hypertension and severe upper G-I-hemorrhage is given. Review of our own endoscopic experience and literature suggests that these varices occur more frequently than generally realized. Their diagnosis tends to be overlooked. Possible therapy is discussed.
