Recent improvements in instrumentation and technique have rendered hysteroscopy safe, simple, and effective in detecting a wide variety of pathologic conditions of the uterus, and the accuracy of the diagnostic process can be greatly enhanced by its use. However, hysteroscopy should not, by any means, be considered the ultimate diagnostic test. Rather, it should be applied judiciously and the information obtained combined with that from other methods, increasing the diagnostic accuracy.
