75 patients with renovascular hypertension were treated by renal autotransplantation. This operation ist indicated in complicated disorders of the renal arteries in which an in situ reconstruction may be impossible. The operative technique and the methods of renal preservation are described in detail. The superior efficacy of renal autotransplantation is demonstrated by positive treatment results in 82.7% of the patients with renovascular hypertension. The prognosis of hypertension was unfavourable in patients with long-term history of the disease. Better treatment results are expected in fibromuscular renal artery stenosis, arteritis of renal arteries and renal artery aneurysms in comparison with atherosclerotic stenosis of renal arteries.

D011183 Postoperative Complications Pathologic processes that affect patients after a surgical procedure. They may or may not be related to the disease for which the surgery was done, and they may or may not be direct results of the surgery. D012078 Renal Artery Obstruction Narrowing or occlusion of the RENAL ARTERY or arteries. It is due usually to ATHEROSCLEROSIS; FIBROMUSCULAR DYSPLASIA; THROMBOSIS; EMBOLISM, or external pressure. The reduced renal perfusion can lead to renovascular hypertension (HYPERTENSION, RENOVASCULAR). D002675 Child, Preschool A child between the ages of 2 and 5. Children, Preschool,Preschool Child,Preschool Children
D005260 Female Females
D005352 Fibromuscular Dysplasia An idiopathic, segmental, nonatheromatous disease of the musculature of arterial walls, leading to STENOSIS of small and medium-sized arteries. There is true proliferation of SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS and fibrous tissue. Fibromuscular dysplasia lesions are smooth stenosis and occur most often in the renal and carotid arteries. They may also occur in other peripheral arteries of the extremity.
