Special behavioral paradigms in animals to study age-related changes in memory. 1988

Department of Psychiatry and Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston.

Animal models are important to understand age-related changes in humans. However, the models do not always agree about the effects of aging on memory, and some of the results with animals are different from those with humans. Points of similarity and difference are discussed, indicating some directions for future research.

D000375 Aging The gradual irreversible changes in structure and function of an organism that occur as a result of the passage of time. Senescence,Aging, Biological,Biological Aging
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
