Chloroquine enhances the cytotoxicity of cis-diamminedichloroplatinum II. 1988

A low dose (10 microM) of the antitumor drug cis-diamminedichloroplatinum II (cDDP) was not found to be cytotoxic to HeLa S3 cells in culture in this study, as observed by Roberts and Fraval (1978). The cytotoxicity of this nontoxic dose of cDDP, can be greatly enhanced by treating cells with 200 microMs chloroquine immediately after exposure to the platimum drug.
