[History and technical development of hip joint replacement operations (author's transl]. 1977

M Braunsdorf, and J Konradt

The development of hip replacement operations is closely connected with the failures in operations to save the head of the femur. After many materially determined set-backs and errors due to false biomechanical ideas, there was renewed progress in allo-arthroplasty of the hip in the, 50's. But even newer models--like the Weber-Huggler-prosthesis-show that the technical development does not yet fully take into account the actual biological demands.
