In patients with acute lower leg ischemia i.v. DSA was compared with i.a. DSA or fine needle injection. The distal flow off was only demonstrated in i.a. DSA, the plantar arch only with fine needle injection. I.v. DSA is limited to the demonstration of the popliteal artery. Consequently fine needle injection should be used in diagnosis of acute peripheral ischemia.
