Bone loss around osseointegrated titanium fixtures supporting mandibular fixed prostheses has been measured by means of stereoscopic intraoral radiography. Forty-six patients treated with the osseointegration implant method according to BrÄnemark have been followed for an observation period of up to 6 years. The bone loss was small, approximately 0.5 mm during the first postsurgical year and thereafter 0.06 to 0.08 mm annually. Poor oral hygiene and clenching of teeth significantly influenced bone loss. More bone was lost around the medial fixtures than around the more posterior ones.

D012044 Regression Analysis Procedures for finding the mathematical function which best describes the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. In linear regression (see LINEAR MODELS) the relationship is constrained to be a straight line and LEAST-SQUARES ANALYSIS is used to determine the best fit. In logistic regression (see LOGISTIC MODELS) the dependent variable is qualitative rather than continuously variable and LIKELIHOOD FUNCTIONS are used to find the best relationship. In multiple regression, the dependent variable is considered to depend on more than a single independent variable. D003826 Denture, Complete, Lower A complete denture replacing all the natural mandibular teeth and associated structures. It is completely supported by the oral tissue and underlying mandibular bone.
D003834 Denture Precision Attachment A precision device used for attaching a fixed or removable partial denture to the crown of an abutment tooth or a restoration. One type is the intracoronal attachment and the other type is the extracoronal attachment. It consists of a female portion within the coronal portion of the crown of an abutment and a fitted male portion attached to the denture proper.
