Aqueous humour concentration of metoprolol after oral administration. 1987

B Calissendorff
Department of Ophthalmology, Karolinska Institute/Huddinge University Hospital, Sweden.

The concentration of the beta-adrenergic blocking agent metoprolol was determined in the blood plasma and aqueous humour of two groups of subjects after oral administration of the compound. One group (8 cases) had received a single divided dose of metoprolol, whilst the other group (7 cases) was receiving chronic therapy with the drug. There was a tendency towards a higher concentration of metoprolol in the aqueous humour as compared to the blood plasma in the chronic treatment group in contrast to the 'single' dose group.
