The ergonomic approach to office design. 1986

E Giangrego

The ergonomically designed office is designed around the people who work or are treated within, rather than the equipment it houses. It is efficient and attractive, and well planned for the comfort of those who work and visit. "Office design should say something of what the dentist wants to convey to his patients. That something is of reliability, comfort, and pleasure. The office should be an outreach of the dentist and staff. It should make the patient comfortable and as relaxed as possible," commented Mr. Bibo. Describing the "ideal" dental office, Dr. Unthank said, "It creates a high trust, low fear atmosphere, it is zoned so that people can move about unhampered, and because everything is easily reached, it is more productive."
