[Effect of ethmozin and Ritmilen on microcirculatory hemostasis in patients with heart rhythm disorders]. 1986

G I Grigor'ev, and T R Petrova

Effects of ethmozine and ritmilen were studied in 75 patients with different disorders of cardiac rhythm predominantly proceeding in the form of extrasystole arrhythmia. The drugs were found to exert a distinct antiaggregant action on platelets and erythrocytes which was particularly pronounced at intravenous administration and transiently increased the number of leukocytes and their aggregation. A decrease of platelet aggregation was accompanied by an increase of their number and rejuvenascence of thrombocytogram. A marked antiarrhythmic effect was seen in 66% of patients, in the remaining patients cardiac extracontractions became more rare.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007962 Leukocytes White blood cells. These include granular leukocytes (BASOPHILS; EOSINOPHILS; and NEUTROPHILS) as well as non-granular leukocytes (LYMPHOCYTES and MONOCYTES). D010640 Phenothiazines Compounds containing dibenzo-1,4-thiazine. Some of them are neuroactive.
D010974 Platelet Aggregation The attachment of PLATELETS to one another. This clumping together can be induced by a number of agents (e.g., THROMBIN; COLLAGEN) and is part of the mechanism leading to the formation of a THROMBUS. Aggregation, Platelet
D002449 Cell Aggregation The phenomenon by which dissociated cells intermixed in vitro tend to group themselves with cells of their own type. Aggregation, Cell,Aggregations, Cell,Cell Aggregations
D004341 Drug Evaluation Any process by which toxicity, metabolism, absorption, elimination, preferred route of administration, safe dosage range, etc., for a drug or group of drugs is determined through clinical assessment in humans or veterinary animals. D004903 Erythrocyte Aggregation The formation of clumps of RED BLOOD CELLS under low or non-flow conditions, resulting from the attraction forces between the red blood cells. The cells adhere to each other in rouleaux aggregates. Slight mechanical force, such as occurs in the circulation, is enough to disperse these aggregates. Stronger or weaker than normal aggregation may result from a variety of effects in the ERYTHROCYTE MEMBRANE or in BLOOD PLASMA. The degree of aggregation is affected by ERYTHROCYTE DEFORMABILITY, erythrocyte membrane sialylation, masking of negative surface charge by plasma proteins, etc. BLOOD VISCOSITY and the ERYTHROCYTE SEDIMENTATION RATE are affected by the amount of erythrocyte aggregation and are parameters used to measure the aggregation.
