[Dopamine levels in the gastric and duodenal mucosa, blood and urine in patients with duodenal ulcer]. 1987

V I Mosin, and N V Agranovich, and A G Gudzovskiĭ

A study was made of the dopamine (DA) level in the gastric and duodenal mucosa, blood and urine of 54 patients with duodenal ulcer and 19 healthy persons. An increase in the DA level in the duodenal mucosa, blood and urine during exacerbation of disease was noted. The DA level in the gastric mucosa was normal. Reverse correlation between the DA content in the gastric mucosa and blood, on the one hand, and criteria of acid production, on the other hand, was established. An increase in the activity of chromaffin cells was interpreted as a compensatory reaction ensuring the reduction of catecholamine metabolism, a decrease in gastric secretion, a rise of the rates of reparative regeneration in the duodenal mucosa.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007413 Intestinal Mucosa Lining of the INTESTINES, consisting of an inner EPITHELIUM, a middle LAMINA PROPRIA, and an outer MUSCULARIS MUCOSAE. In the SMALL INTESTINE, the mucosa is characterized by a series of folds and abundance of absorptive cells (ENTEROCYTES) with MICROVILLI. D008297 Male Males
D008875 Middle Aged An adult aged 45 - 64 years. Middle Age
D004298 Dopamine One of the catecholamine NEUROTRANSMITTERS in the brain. It is derived from TYROSINE and is the precursor to NOREPINEPHRINE and EPINEPHRINE. Dopamine is a major transmitter in the extrapyramidal system of the brain, and important in regulating movement. A family of receptors (RECEPTORS, DOPAMINE) mediate its action. D004381 Duodenal Ulcer A PEPTIC ULCER located in the DUODENUM. Curling's Ulcer,Curling Ulcer,Curlings Ulcer,Duodenal Ulcers,Ulcer, Curling,Ulcer, Duodenal,Ulcers, Duodenal
D004386 Duodenum The shortest and widest portion of the SMALL INTESTINE adjacent to the PYLORUS of the STOMACH. It is named for having the length equal to about the width of 12 fingers. Duodenums
D005260 Female Females
D005753 Gastric Mucosa Lining of the STOMACH, consisting of an inner EPITHELIUM, a middle LAMINA PROPRIA, and an outer MUSCULARIS MUCOSAE. The surface cells produce MUCUS that protects the stomach from attack by digestive acid and enzymes. When the epithelium invaginates into the LAMINA PROPRIA at various region of the stomach (CARDIA; GASTRIC FUNDUS; and PYLORUS), different tubular gastric glands are formed. These glands consist of cells that secrete mucus, enzymes, HYDROCHLORIC ACID, or hormones. D000328 Adult A person having attained full growth or maturity. Adults are of 19 through 44 years of age. For a person between 19 and 24 years of age, YOUNG ADULT is available. Adults
