Purification of mammalian interferons on controlled pore glass (CPG) with modified surface. 1986

M Kandefer-Szerszeń, and J Kaczor, and A Dawidowicz

Spotted souslik's interferon beta (So IFN beta), bovine interferon beta (Bov IFN beta) and mouse IFN beta/a were purified on Controlled Pore Glass (CPG) using original CPG, not modified, and CPG with boron enriched surface. The surface boron atoms enrichment of CPG lead to higher selectivity of interferon binding and to increased interferon recovery. Further improvement of interferon beta affinity to CPG was obtained by rehydroxylation of boron enriched CPG surface.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007370 Interferon Type I Interferon secreted by leukocytes, fibroblasts, or lymphoblasts in response to viruses or interferon inducers other than mitogens, antigens, or allo-antigens. They include alpha- and beta-interferons (INTERFERON-ALPHA and INTERFERON-BETA). Interferons Type I,Type I Interferon,Type I Interferons,Interferon, Type I,Interferons, Type I
D001895 Boron A trace element with the atomic symbol B, atomic number 5, and atomic weight [10.806; 10.821]. Boron-10, an isotope of boron, is used as a neutron absorber in BORON NEUTRON CAPTURE THERAPY. Boron-11,Boron 11

D002845 Chromatography Techniques used to separate mixtures of substances based on differences in the relative affinities of the substances for mobile and stationary phases. A mobile phase (fluid or gas) passes through a column containing a stationary phase of porous solid or liquid coated on a solid support. Usage is both analytical for small amounts and preparative for bulk amounts. Chromatographies
D005898 Glass Hard, amorphous, brittle, inorganic, usually transparent, polymerous silicate of basic oxides, usually potassium or sodium. It is used in the form of hard sheets, vessels, tubing, fibers, ceramics, beads, etc.
D006900 Hydroxylation Placing of a hydroxyl group on a compound in a position where one did not exist before. (Stedman, 26th ed) Hydroxylations
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D012589 Sciuridae A family of the order Rodentia which contains 49 genera. Some of the more common genera are MARMOTA, which includes the marmot and woodchuck; Sciurus, the gray squirrel, S. carolinensis, and the fox squirrel, S. niger; Tamias, the eastern and western chipmunk; and Tamiasciurus, the red squirrel. The flying squirrels, except the scaly-tailed Anomaluridae, also belong to this family.
