[Radioisotope renography in the evaluation of the functional status of the kidneys in alcoholism]. 1986

I D Muratova, and P I Sidorov, and N S Ishekov, and A V Smirnov

Isotopic renography was used to study the characteristics of kidney function in alcoholics. A total of 178 patients with Stage I-III alcoholism and "habitual" drinkers aged 15-60 years were examined using the radiographic device "Gamma" (Hungary). Two types of pathological reaction of kidney function to chronic alcohol intoxication--acceleration and inhibition of function--are described, with accelerated function cases being predominant in the total sample. The ratio between them is determined by a stage of the disease, age and remission duration.
