Penicillamine-induced exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis. 1986

D Butler, and N A Tiliakos

We have described three patients whose rheumatoid arthritis was exacerbated by penicillamine. The exacerbation was manifested as severe, disabling, febrile, symmetric polysynovitis with normocomplementemia, negative ANA, and reversibility upon discontinuance of the drug. The pathogenesis is yet to be determined.
