[Effect of gastrozepin on the rate of gastrointestinal tract evacuation in patients with peptic ulcer of the duodenum]. 1986

A F Likov, and E S Guba, and S N Belokon', and I P Dzhangirov

A modified x-ray method was applied in 41 patients with peptic ulcer of the duodenum to study twice (without gastrozepin intake and after its administration in courses) the rate of evacuation from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of radiographic contrast capsules taken with a trial meal. Administration of gastrozepin in courses significantly decelerated the rate of evacuation of the radiographic contrast capsules from the GIT with an initially accelerated evacuatory function of the GIT and slightly accelerated GIT evacuation with an initially decelerated evacuatory function.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008297 Male Males
D010890 Pirenzepine An antimuscarinic agent that inhibits gastric secretion at lower doses than are required to affect gastrointestinal motility, salivary, central nervous system, cardiovascular, ocular, and urinary function. It promotes the healing of duodenal ulcers and due to its cytoprotective action is beneficial in the prevention of duodenal ulcer recurrence. It also potentiates the effect of other antiulcer agents such as CIMETIDINE and RANITIDINE. It is generally well tolerated by patients. D011976 Receptors, Muscarinic One of the two major classes of cholinergic receptors. Muscarinic receptors were originally defined by their preference for MUSCARINE over NICOTINE. There are several subtypes (usually M1, M2, M3....) that are characterized by their cellular actions, pharmacology, and molecular biology. D004064 Digestive System A group of organs stretching from the MOUTH to the ANUS, serving to breakdown foods, assimilate nutrients, and eliminate waste. In humans, the digestive system includes the GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT and the accessory glands (LIVER; BILIARY TRACT; PANCREAS). Ailmentary System,Alimentary System

D000897 Anti-Ulcer Agents Various agents with different action mechanisms used to treat or ameliorate PEPTIC ULCER or irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. This has included ANTIBIOTICS to treat HELICOBACTER INFECTIONS; HISTAMINE H2 ANTAGONISTS to reduce GASTRIC ACID secretion; and ANTACIDS for symptomatic relief.
