With the development of tissue engineering, the application of decellularized adipose matrix as scaffold material in tissue engineering has been intensively explored due to its wide source and excellent potential in tissue regeneration. Decellularized adipose matrix is a promising candidate for adipose tissue regeneration, while modification of decellularized adipose matrix scaffold can also allow it to transcend the limitations of adipose tissue source properties and applied to other tissue engineering fields, including cartilage and bone tissue engineering, neural tissue engineering, and skin tissue engineering. In this review, we summarized the development of the applications of decellularized adipose matrix in different tissue engineering and present future perspectives.Level of Evidence III This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D002356 Cartilage A non-vascular form of connective tissue composed of CHONDROCYTES embedded in a matrix that includes CHONDROITIN SULFATE and various types of FIBRILLAR COLLAGEN. There are three major types: HYALINE CARTILAGE; FIBROCARTILAGE; and ELASTIC CARTILAGE. Cartilages
D006801 Humans Members of the species Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens,Man (Taxonomy),Human,Man, Modern,Modern Man
D000273 Adipose Tissue Specialized connective tissue composed of fat cells (ADIPOCYTES). It is the site of stored FATS, usually in the form of TRIGLYCERIDES. In mammals, there are two types of adipose tissue, the WHITE FAT and the BROWN FAT. Their relative distributions vary in different species with most adipose tissue being white.
