[Infrared contact coagulation. Clinical application in liver and spleen (author's transl)]. 1979

E Guthy, and P Kiefhaber, and G Nath, and A Kreitmair

Infrared-contact-coagulation is a new principle for hemostasis of bleeding parenchyma and was used in 33 patients with 41 bleeding surfaces, 22 in the liver, 19 in the spleen. Hemostasis was achieved in all but three deep lacerations without further complications. Accidental bleeding, biopsy, and resection were the main indications; biopsy and partial resection of the spleen was achieved.
