[Modification of the mitochondrial membrane from the rat liver by synthetic phospholipids]. 1986

L V Tat'ianenko, and N M Sokolova, and Iu Sh Mashkovskiĭ

Reconstruction of rat liver mitochondrial membrane by means of synthetic phospholipids enabled to improve the conception on the role of lipids in formation of monoamine oxidase multiple forms as well as elucidated the functions of mitochondrial membrane itself, which contains a tightly-mounted MAO, in regulation of biogenic amines enzymatic oxidation. The data obtained excluded the deciding importance of phospholipids in formation of two types of monoamine oxidases and corroborated the hypothesis on the active role of mitochondrial membrane in enzymatic reactions of tightly-mounted MAO as well as these data suggest that alterations in conformational mobility of the membrane hydrophobic sites shifted distinctly the kinetics of the enzymatic reaction.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007425 Intracellular Membranes Thin structures that encapsulate subcellular structures or ORGANELLES in EUKARYOTIC CELLS. They include a variety of membranes associated with the CELL NUCLEUS; the MITOCHONDRIA; the GOLGI APPARATUS; the ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM; LYSOSOMES; PLASTIDS; and VACUOLES. D007700 Kinetics The rate dynamics in chemical or physical systems.
D008297 Male Males
D008563 Membrane Lipids Lipids, predominantly phospholipids, cholesterol and small amounts of glycolipids found in membranes including cellular and intracellular membranes. These lipids may be arranged in bilayers in the membranes with integral proteins between the layers and peripheral proteins attached to the outside. Membrane lipids are required for active transport, several enzymatic activities and membrane formation. D008930 Mitochondria, Liver Mitochondria in hepatocytes. As in all mitochondria, there are an outer membrane and an inner membrane, together creating two separate mitochondrial compartments: the internal matrix space and a much narrower intermembrane space. In the liver mitochondrion, an estimated 67% of the total mitochondrial proteins is located in the matrix. D008995 Monoamine Oxidase An enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative deamination of naturally occurring monoamines. It is a flavin-containing enzyme that is localized in mitochondrial membranes, whether in nerve terminals, the liver, or other organs. Monoamine oxidase is important in regulating the metabolic degradation of catecholamines and serotonin in neural or target tissues. Hepatic monoamine oxidase has a crucial defensive role in inactivating circulating monoamines or those, such as tyramine, that originate in the gut and are absorbed into the portal circulation. D008996 Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors A chemically heterogeneous group of drugs that have in common the ability to block oxidative deamination of naturally occurring monoamines. (From Gilman, et al., Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, 8th ed, p414) MAO Inhibitor,MAO Inhibitors,Reversible Inhibitors of Monoamine Oxidase,Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor,RIMA (Reversible Inhibitor of Monoamine Oxidase A),Reversible Inhibitor of Monoamine Oxidase,Inhibitor, MAO,Inhibitor, Monoamine Oxidase,Inhibitors, MAO,Inhibitors, Monoamine Oxidase
D010743 Phospholipids Lipids containing one or more phosphate groups, particularly those derived from either glycerol (phosphoglycerides see GLYCEROPHOSPHOLIPIDS) or sphingosine (SPHINGOLIPIDS). They are polar lipids that are of great importance for the structure and function of cell membranes and are the most abundant of membrane lipids, although not stored in large amounts in the system. D011919 Rats, Inbred Strains Genetically identical individuals developed from brother and sister matings which have been carried out for twenty or more generations or by parent x offspring matings carried out with certain restrictions. This also includes animals with a long history of closed colony breeding. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
