[Anterior metallic spondylodesis of the cervical segment of the spine]. 1985

The article describes a new method of rigid fusion of the bodies of cervical vertebrae by a type A-O metal plate. On the basis of theoretical calculations the author points out the advantages of the method which allows the performance of emergency one-stage anterior and posterior decompression of the spinal cord as a result of which postoperative external fixation of the spine is not needed and mobilization of the patient can be started earlier.
