Identification of hydroxy fatty acids in Aeromonas hydrophila, Aeromonas sobria, and Aeromonas caviae. 1985

F P Canonica, and M A Pisano

Gas-liquid chromatographic analysis of fatty acid methyl esters obtained from clinical isolates of Aeromonas hydrophila, A. sobria, and A. caviae revealed the presence of two hydroxy fatty acid species, 3-OH 12:0 and 3-OH 14:0.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D002849 Chromatography, Gas Fractionation of a vaporized sample as a consequence of partition between a mobile gaseous phase and a stationary phase held in a column. Two types are gas-solid chromatography, where the fixed phase is a solid, and gas-liquid, in which the stationary phase is a nonvolatile liquid supported on an inert solid matrix. D000333 Aeromonas A genus of gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria that occurs singly, in pairs, or in short chains. Its organisms are found in fresh water and sewage and are pathogenic to humans, frogs, and fish.
D013045 Species Specificity The restriction of a characteristic behavior, anatomical structure or physical system, such as immune response; metabolic response, or gene or gene variant to the members of one species. It refers to that property which differentiates one species from another but it is also used for phylogenetic levels higher or lower than the species.
