Carcinoma of the nasopharynx and posterior pharyngeal wall. 1986

The overall prognosis for carcinoma of the nasopharynx and posterior pharyngeal wall continues to be dismal. Gloomy statistics persist despite a wide variety of protocols involving irradiation, chemotherapy, and surgery. The single solid advance in treatment of these malignancies has come with the evolution of the myocutaneous flap, which is discussed in this article.
