[Means for optimizing the diagnosis of diabetic angiopathies]. 1986

A F Sokol

Diagnostic algorithms for the recognition of diabetic angiopathies have been developed: an algorithm for the recognition of the most important syndromes of vascular involvement in patients with diabetes mellitus; an algorithm for the recognition of stages of diabetic retinopathy, and an algorithm for the recognition of stages of nephropathy. The algorithms are intended for a wide clinical use and mainly based on simple methods of research. More sophisticated methods extend the probability of the recognition of angiopathies. The use of the algorithms raise the efficacy of the recognition of angiopathies in demonstration experiments for teaching purposes.

D003928 Diabetic Nephropathies KIDNEY injuries associated with diabetes mellitus and affecting KIDNEY GLOMERULUS; ARTERIOLES; KIDNEY TUBULES; and the interstitium. Clinical signs include persistent PROTEINURIA, from microalbuminuria progressing to ALBUMINURIA of greater than 300 mg/24 h, leading to reduced GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE and END-STAGE RENAL DISEASE.
