[Midantan activation of memory trace retrieval in rats]. 1985

The authors studied the action of amantadine in recovery processes of the memory in some types of retrieval impairment: normal forgetting, "psychogenous" amnesia and latent inhibition. Antraperitoneal injection of amantadine (25 mg/kg) to rats I h before testing the preservation of the conditioned passive avoidance reaction was discovered to restore the conditioned reaction which went out as a result of long-term preservation. To restore the memory in amnesia and latent inhibition, 50 mg/kg amantadine was required. Thus, it has been shown that amantadine has reactivating properties in memory processes.
