UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D010300 Parkinson Disease A progressive, degenerative neurologic disease characterized by a TREMOR that is maximal at rest, retropulsion (i.e. a tendency to fall backwards), rigidity, stooped posture, slowness of voluntary movements, and a masklike facial expression. Pathologic features include loss of melanin containing neurons in the substantia nigra and other pigmented nuclei of the brainstem. LEWY BODIES are present in the substantia nigra and locus coeruleus but may also be found in a related condition (LEWY BODY DISEASE, DIFFUSE) characterized by dementia in combination with varying degrees of parkinsonism. D010919 Placebos Any dummy medication or treatment. Although placebos originally were medicinal preparations having no specific pharmacological activity against a targeted condition, the concept has been extended to include treatments or procedures, especially those administered to control groups in clinical trials in order to provide baseline measurements for the experimental protocol. Sham Treatment
D002986 Clinical Trials as Topic Works about pre-planned studies of the safety, efficacy, or optimum dosage schedule (if appropriate) of one or more diagnostic, therapeutic, or prophylactic drugs, devices, or techniques selected according to predetermined criteria of eligibility and observed for predefined evidence of favorable and unfavorable effects. This concept includes clinical trials conducted both in the U.S. and in other countries. Clinical Trial as Topic
D004295 Dihydroxyphenylalanine A beta-hydroxylated derivative of phenylalanine. The D-form of dihydroxyphenylalanine has less physiologic activity than the L-form and is commonly used experimentally to determine whether the pharmacological effects of LEVODOPA are stereospecific. D000547 Amantadine An antiviral that is used in the prophylactic or symptomatic treatment of influenza A. It is also used as an antiparkinsonian agent, to treat extrapyramidal reactions, and for postherpetic neuralgia. The mechanisms of its effects in movement disorders are not well understood but probably reflect an increase in synthesis and release of dopamine, with perhaps some inhibition of dopamine uptake. 1-Aminoadamantane,Adamantylamine,Adekin,Aman,Amanta,Amanta-HCI-AZU,Amanta-Sulfate-AZU,Amantadin AL,Amantadin AZU,Amantadin Stada,Amantadin-neuraxpharm,Amantadin-ratiopharm,Amantadina Juventus,Amantadina Llorente,Amantadine Hydrochloride,Amantadine Sulfate,Amixx,Cerebramed,Endantadine,Gen-Amantadine,Infecto-Flu,Infex,Mantadix,Midantan,PMS-Amantadine,Symadine,Symmetrel,Viregyt,Wiregyt,tregor,1 Aminoadamantane,AL, Amantadin,AZU, Amantadin,Amanta HCI AZU,Amanta Sulfate AZU,AmantaHCIAZU,AmantaSulfateAZU,Amantadin neuraxpharm,Amantadin ratiopharm,Amantadinneuraxpharm,Amantadinratiopharm,Gen Amantadine,GenAmantadine,Hydrochloride, Amantadine,Infecto Flu,InfectoFlu,Juventus, Amantadina,Llorente, Amantadina,PMS Amantadine,PMSAmantadine,Stada, Amantadin,Sulfate, Amantadine
