[Late results of the surgical treatment of esophageal cancer]. 1979

Of 60 patients, subjected to resection of the esophagus for cancer, 12 patients died (the mortality being 20%). Among the followed up patients after radical esophagectomy 17 patients survived for 5 years (39.5%--in the followed up subjects, 37.8%--in those discharged from the hospital, and 29.8%--in the operated ones).
