Induction of arginase activity with the Shope papilloma virus in tissue culture cells from an argininemic patient. 1973

S Rogers, and A Lowenthal, and H G Terheggen, and J P Columbo

Inoculation of the Shope virus in tissue cultures of human fibroblasts from a patient with a deficiency of the enzyme arginase results in an induction of arginase activity, apparently virus coded.

D003677 Deficiency Diseases A condition produced by dietary or metabolic deficiency. The term includes all diseases caused by an insufficient supply of essential nutrients, i.e., protein (or amino acids), vitamins, and minerals. It also includes an inadequacy of calories. D004790 Enzyme Induction An increase in the rate of synthesis of an enzyme due to the presence of an inducer which acts to derepress the gene responsible for enzyme synthesis. Induction, Enzyme
D005347 Fibroblasts Connective tissue cells which secrete an extracellular matrix rich in collagen and other macromolecules. Fibroblast

D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
