As part of the development of a comprehensive community-orientated psychiatric service, a questionnaire with multiple-choice answers was sent to 244 general practitioners in the catchment area of Stikland Hospital. The attitudes and opinions expressed regarding certain principles of community psychiatry are analysed and discussed.
