Effects of rigid lens flexure on vision. 1979

S Wechsler

Rigid lenses may flex on the eye, particularly when the center thickness is less than 0.12 mm. Rigid oxygen permeable materials are less rigid than PMMA and can be expected to flex more easily.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008768 Methylmethacrylates The methyl esters of methacrylic acid that polymerize easily and are used as tissue cements, dental materials, and absorbent for biological substances.
D012030 Refractive Errors Deviations from the average or standard indices of refraction of the eye through its dioptric or refractive apparatus. D002648 Child A person 6 to 12 years of age. An individual 2 to 5 years old is CHILD, PRESCHOOL. Children
D003261 Contact Lenses Lenses designed to be worn on the front surface of the eyeball. (UMDNS, 1999) Lenses, Contact,Contact Lens,Lens, Contact
D004548 Elasticity Resistance and recovery from distortion of shape.
D006801 Humans Members of the species Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens,Man (Taxonomy),Human,Man, Modern,Modern Man

D013314 Stress, Mechanical A purely physical condition which exists within any material because of strain or deformation by external forces or by non-uniform thermal expansion; expressed quantitatively in units of force per unit area. Mechanical Stress,Mechanical Stresses,Stresses, Mechanical
D014792 Visual Acuity Clarity or sharpness of OCULAR VISION or the ability of the eye to see fine details. Visual acuity depends on the functions of RETINA, neuronal transmission, and the interpretative ability of the brain. Normal visual acuity is expressed as 20/20 indicating that one can see at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. Visual acuity can also be influenced by brightness, color, and contrast. Acuities, Visual,Acuity, Visual,Visual Acuities
