Proteins at the tRNA binding sites of Escherichia coli ribosomes. 1974

p - Nitrophenylcarbamyl - phenylalanyl-tRNA binds to ribosomes in response to poly(U) and reacts with ribosomal proteins via covalent bond formation. Ribosomal proteins of Escherichia coli were characterized by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and by reaction with specific antibodies. The affinity label is shown to react with the 50S proteins L27, L15, L2, L16, and L14. We therefore conclude that these particular proteins are located at or near tRNA-binding sites within the 50S ribosomal subunit.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007118 Immunoassay A technique using antibodies for identifying or quantifying a substance. Usually the substance being studied serves as antigen both in antibody production and in measurement of antibody by the test substance. D011485 Protein Binding The process in which substances, either endogenous or exogenous, bind to proteins, peptides, enzymes, protein precursors, or allied compounds. Specific protein-binding measures are often used as assays in diagnostic assessments. Plasma Protein Binding Capacity,Binding, Protein
D011691 Puromycin A cinnamamido ADENOSINE found in STREPTOMYCES alboniger. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to RNA. It is an antineoplastic and antitrypanosomal agent and is used in research as an inhibitor of protein synthesis.
