Massive scalp haemorrhage after fetal blood sampling due to haemorrhagic disease. 1972

Massive subaponeurotic haematoma occurred in a baby after suture of bleeding scalp blood sampling stabs made before delivery. Eighteen hours after delivery blood samples showed marked prolongation of the prothrombin time. The condition was successfully treated with vitamin K(1) and blood transfusion.
