Incorporation of labeled precursors into the RNA and proteins of lactic dehydrogenase virus. 1973

A Niwa, and S Yamazaki, and J Bader, and A L Notkins

Lactic dehydrogenase virus was grown in primary mouse embryo cells and labeled with (3)H-uridine and (3)H-amino acids. Concentrated and purified virus was banded by isopycnic centrifugation in sucrose gradients, and infectivity and radioactivity were found to correspond at a density of 1.17 g/cm(3). The extracted viral RNA was resolved by electrophoresis in polyacrylamide-agarose mixed gels, and the mol wt was estimated to be 6.0 x 10(6).

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007770 L-Lactate Dehydrogenase A tetrameric enzyme that, along with the coenzyme NAD+, catalyzes the interconversion of LACTATE and PYRUVATE. In vertebrates, genes for three different subunits (LDH-A, LDH-B and LDH-C) exist. Lactate Dehydrogenase,Dehydrogenase, L-Lactate,Dehydrogenase, Lactate,L Lactate Dehydrogenase
D008970 Molecular Weight The sum of the weight of all the atoms in a molecule. Molecular Weights,Weight, Molecular,Weights, Molecular
D002499 Centrifugation, Density Gradient Separation of particles according to density by employing a gradient of varying densities. At equilibrium each particle settles in the gradient at a point equal to its density. D000596 Amino Acids Organic compounds that generally contain an amino (-NH2) and a carboxyl (-COOH) group. Twenty alpha-amino acids are the subunits which are polymerized to form proteins. Amino Acid,Acid, Amino,Acids, Amino
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
