[Cryotherapy of precancerous diseases of the cervix uteri]. 1979

Z O Ozhiganova

In the COR of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences cryotherapy was employed in 54 patients with pretumor lesions of the uterine cervix. The cryotherapy was performed by a "Spembly" machine (England) and a national apparatus. As a cryoagent nitrogen monoxide was used, which provided the cooling of a cryosonde up to -89 degrees C. This method offers such advantages as the absence of pain, bleeding and complications. An analysis of the immediate results of the treatment allows cryoexposure to be considered an effective method and to employ it under out-patient conditions.
