Renal excretion of metolazone, a new diuretic. 1972

E J Belair, and A I Cohen, and J Yelnosky

1. Metolazone, a new diuretic, was found to be excreted by glomerular filtration and renal tubular secretion.2. The secretory mechanism was antagonized by probenecid but this did not affect the diuretic action of metolazone.

D007659 Ketones Organic compounds containing a carbonyl group Ketone
D007677 Kidney Function Tests Laboratory tests used to evaluate how well the kidneys are working through examination of blood and urine. Function Test, Kidney,Function Tests, Kidney,Kidney Function Test,Test, Kidney Function,Tests, Kidney Function
D011339 Probenecid The prototypical uricosuric agent. It inhibits the renal excretion of organic anions and reduces tubular reabsorption of urate. Probenecid has also been used to treat patients with renal impairment, and, because it reduces the renal tubular excretion of other drugs, has been used as an adjunct to antibacterial therapy.
